Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Gers and Saint-Geours-de-Maremne in France

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued Ref. No. 14280 dated 4 January 2021 (20/05/1442 AH) entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Saint-Geours-de-Maremne in France". On 6 June 2021, SFDA has subsequently issued the Administrative Order Ref. No. 29533, entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Gers in France".
Following OIE reports dated 31 May 2021, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Gers in France. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Gers and Saint-Geours-de-Maremne in France into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.
