This Draft Ordinance prescribes the animal health conditions governing the movement and importation of equidae. For reasons of clarity and consistency of legislation, this procedure shall apply to authorities in third countries approved for the purpose of keeping herd books, flock books or stud books in accordance with zootechnical legislation. Also, in the interests of clarity and consistency of rules, this simplified procedure shall apply to the updating of the list of quarantine centres.

This Draft Ordinance shall apply to genetically modified organisms, "GMOs", authorised for the placing on the market in accordance with Law, and applications for placing on the market under such legislation. Applications for the placing on the market of GMOs shall include a unique identifier for each GMO concerned. Applicants shall, in accordance with the formats set out in the Annex, develop a unique identifier for each GMO concerned, following consultation of the OECD BioTrack product database, and the Biosafety clearing house, to determine whether or not a unique identifier has already been developed for that GMO in accordance with these formats.

These Draft Amendments provide a model of certificate for trade for poultry and eggs.

This legislation proposes some rules for the trade of equidae intended for competitions and lays down the conditions for participation therein.

The objective of this Draft, in accordance with the general principles laid down in the food safety law, is to: provide the basis for ensuring a high level of protection of human life and health, animal health and welfare, environment and consumer interests in relation to genetically modified food and feed, whilst ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market; lay down procedures for the authorisation and supervision of genetically modified food and feed; lay down provisions for the labelling of genetically modified food and feed.
