In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Spain, including those shipped through third countries, since 19 January 2022 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat and its products to be exported to Japan from Spain" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada, including those shipped through third countries, since 14 January 2022 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks to be exported to Japan from Canada", "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from Canada" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of African swine fever  (ASF) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of pig meat products from Italy, including those shipped through third countries, since 8 January 2022 based on the "Animal health requirements for meat and viscera derived from cloven-hoofed animals and sausages, ham and bacon made from the said meat and viscera as raw materials to be exported to Japan from Italy (excluding Sardinia island)" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the departments of Landes and Pyrénées Atlantiques in France, including those shipped through third countries, since 20 December 2021 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks of poultry to be exported to Japan from France," "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from France" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control."

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the department of Gers in France, including those shipped through third countries, since 16 December 2021 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks of poultry to be exported to Japan from France," "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from France" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control."

In order to prevent the introduction of H5 Low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the state of Minnesota in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 29 November 2021 based on articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control", "Animal Health Requirements for day old chicks and hatching eggs to be exported to Japan from the United States" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from the state of Sachsen-Anhalt in Germany, including those shipped through third countries, since 14 December 2021 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from Germany" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Portugal, including those shipped through third countries, since 6 December 2021 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from Portugal" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Austria, including those shipped through third countries, since 27 November 2021 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from Austria" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen of Germany, including those shipped through third countries, since 23 November 2021 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from Germany" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".
