In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Snohomish County in Washington in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 1 June 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Jefferson County in Colorado and King County in Washington in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 31 May 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Campbell County in Wyoming in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 26 May 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

MAFF will designate Benzoic acid as a feed additive and establish its standards and specifications by the ministerial ordinance in "Public Announcement: the Ministerial Public Announcement Regarding the Designation of Feed Additives (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Public Announcement No. 750 issued on 24 July 1976)" and "Ministerial Ordinance on the Specifications and Standards of Feeds and Feed Additives" (Ordinance No. 35 of 24 July 1976 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry).(Proposed amendmentThe content of Benzoic acid in feed must be no more than 0.5%.Benzoic acid is allowed to be used as a feed additive for pigs (no more than 70 kg of body weight) only.

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Boone County in Illinois, Salt Lake County in Utah and Thurston County in Washington in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 23 May 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry from State of New Jersey, and poultry meat and egg products from Monmouth County in New Jersey, Burke County in North Dakota and Lincoln County in Wyoming in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 19 May 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control", "Animal Health Requirements for day old-chicks and hatching eggs to be exported to Japan from the United States" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the department of Loiret in France, including those shipped through third countries, since 18 May 2022, based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks of poultry to be exported to Japan from France", "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from France" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Canyon County in Idaho in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 12 May 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry from State of Oklahoma, and poultry meat and egg products from Sequoyah County in Oklahoma and Pondera, Fergus and Gallatin Counties in Montana in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 6 May 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control", "Animal Health Requirements for day old-chicks and hatching eggs to be exported to Japan from the United States" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".
