Notifications for Japan (1406 notifications)

In order to prevent the introduction of H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Spain, including those shipped through third countries, since 11 August 2022 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat and its products to be exported to Japan from Spain" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry and liquid egg products from the Animal Health Municipalities No. 4 and No. 15 in the Netherlands, including those shipped through third countries, since 19 August 2022, based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks and hatching eggs of poultry to be exported to Japan from the Kingdom of the Netherlands", "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the Kingdom of the Netherlands" and the articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Butte County in California in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 19 August 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Bethel County in Alaska in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 8 August 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the department of Manche in France, including those shipped through third countries, since 30 July 2022, based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks of poultry to be exported to Japan from France", "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from France" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Flathead County in Montana in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 29 July 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States."

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from the department of Somme in France, including those shipped through third countries, since 1 August 2022, based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks of poultry to be exported to Japan from France", "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from France" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In G/SPS/N/JPN/1017 on 9 May 2022, the MAFF notified that Japan amended the Plant Protection Act to allow items such as agricultural machinery to be made subject to import quarantine, and that specific quarantine requirements for the items will be notified by the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Plant Protection Act in due course. http://www.spsvietnam.gov.vn/Data/File/Notice/6885/NJPN1017.pdf This time, the MAFF proposes a revision of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Plant Protection Act to introduce measures for imported used agricultural machineries. The import requirements are as follows:1.     To designate specified used agricultural machineries as regulated articles subject to import quarantine (Annex 1);2.     To request the exporting country to attach a phytosanitary certificate declaring that there have been free from soil and plant debris on each consignment of the used agricultural machineries mentioned in 1 above (Annex 2).
