Notifications for Japan (1406 notifications)

MAFF will amend the standard for method of manufacture and specifications for ingredients of feeds in general stipulated in the "Ministerial Ordinance on the Specifications and Standards of Feeds and Feed Additives" (Ordinance No. 35 of 24 July 1976 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry).(Proposed amendment)The content of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in feeds must be no more than 100 mg per ton of feed for cows, 50 mg per ton of feed for pigs and/or 80 mg per ton of feed for chickens.25-hydroxycholecalciferol is allowed to be used as a feed additive for cows, pigs and chickens only.

To prevent the introduction of CLVd into Japan, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) will require National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPO) of exporting countries to certify that:a)    for seeds for planting originated in Thailandi)     The samples randomly taken from parent plants and ones with suspected symptoms are tested by an appropriate genetic method such as RT-PCR assay and found to be free from Columnea latent viroid; orii)    The seeds are tested prior to export by an appropriate genetic method such as RT-PCR assay and found to be free from Columnea latent viroid; 4,600 seeds are randomly taken from a lot as samples in accordance with the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) procedures; or in case that the number of seeds of a lot is less than 46,000, 10% of the seeds are used for the testing; they are divided into at most 400 seeds as sub-samples.  b)    for live plants and plant parts for planting for cultivation originated in Thailand (excluding seeds and fruits):i)     The plants randomly taken from a lot and plants with suspected symptoms are tested during the growing season or prior to export by an appropriate genetic method such as RT-PCR assay and found to be free from Columnea latent viroidTherefore, the NPPO of exporting countries will be required to include an additional declaration stating thatFulfills item 26 of the Annexed Table 2-2 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Plant Protection Act (MAF Ordinance No. 73/1950).

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Colombia, including those shipped through third countries, since 22 October 2022 based on the "Animal Health Requirement for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from Colombia" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from the Province of Antwerp in Belgium, including those shipped through third countries, since 26 October 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the Kingdom of Belgium".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry from the whole state of Oklahoma, poultry meat and egg products from Tulsa County in Oklahoma, Pope County in Arkansas, Nye County in Nevada, Jackson County in Missouri, Rockwall County in Texas, Valley County in Idaho and Hill County in Montana in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 24 October 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control", "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks and hatching eggs to be exported to Japan from the United States" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry from the whole state of Rhode Island, poultry meat and egg products from Newport County in Rhode Island and Douglas County in Oregon in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 24 October 2022 for Rhode Island and 25 October 2022 for Oregon, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control", "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks and hatching eggs to be exported to Japan from the United States" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of poultry meat and egg products from Creek County in Oklahoma in the United States of America, including those shipped through third countries, since 26 October 2022, based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and "Animal Health Requirements for the poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from the United States".
