To prevent the introduction of Meloidogyne enterolobii into Japan, the MAFF will require National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPO) of exporting countries to certify that:For Underground parts of the live plants being capable of planting for cultivation of plants listed in item 3: The plants are grown at a place of production or a production site (including a plant growth facility) where M enterolobii has not been known to occur or was known to occur previously but has been eradicated; andThe plants are inspected at the place of production or the production site during the growing season, and the growing medium and the underground parts of the plants are examined by an appropriate nematological test and found to be free from M enterolobii Therefore, the NPPO of exporting countries will be required to include an additional declaration stating that "Fulfills item 13 of the Annexed Table 2-2 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Plant Protection Act (MAF Ordinance No. 73/1950)

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of live poultry, poultry meat and egg products from France, including those shipped through third countries, since 1 October 2023, based on the "Animal Health Requirements for day-old chicks of poultry to be exported to Japan from France", "Animal Health Requirements for poultry meat etc. to be exported to Japan from France" and Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".However, the following commodities are exempt from the import suspension measures:a) Live poultry for which an export quarantine certificate was issued by the French government on and before 30 September 2023;b) Poultry meat and egg products which are produced (including packaging) on and before 30 September 2023, as certified by an export quarantine certificate issued by the government of the exporting country;c) Poultry meat products derived from live poultry imported from France to the exporting country on and before 30 September 2023, as certified by an export quarantine certificate issued by the government of the exporting country.

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has taken import suspension measures based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and other relevant requirements.

On 20 October 2023, MAFF has lifted the import suspension measures on the importation of poultry meat and egg products from the State of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil, which was implemented based on Articles 37 and 44 of the “Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control” and other relevant requirements, in order to prevent the introduction of the High pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan.

On 16 October 2023, MAFF has lifted the import suspension measures on importation of live poultry from the State of Santa Catarina in Brazil, which was implemented based on Articles 37 and 44 of the “Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control” and other relevant requirements in order to prevent the introduction of High pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan.

In order to prevent the introduction of the High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has taken import suspension measures based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and other relevant requirements.

The proposed Amendments of standards and specifications of Formic acid and establishment its standards and specifications notified in G/SPS/N/JPN/1198 (dated 24 April 2023) has been adopted and published on 26 September 2023.

The authorization of Calcium Phytate as a food additive and establishment of the specifications and the standards notified in G/SPS/N/JPN/1177 (dated 10 March 2023) were adopted and published on 26 July 2023.
