Maximum limits for contaminants and toxic substances in food. This standard is limited to maximum limits for naturally occurring contaminants and toxic substances in food, in cases where the contaminant present in the food can be transferred to animal feed and may be relevant to public health.

This standard is concerned with general requirements for unprocessed agricultural products obtained through certain techniques of genetic modification and unprocessed agricultural products that contain or are produced from genetically modified organism (GMO) if the GMO present is higher than 1%.

Health certificates were modified based on the comments of Members, with the creation of new certificates as follows:Health Certificate for the Export of Non-Production Animal Feed Containing Products of Animal Origin;Health Certificate for the Re-export of Feed from a Third Country to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;Health Certificate for the Export of Animal-Origin Feed Products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;Health Certificate for the Export of Plant-Origin Feed Products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This standard is concerned with general requirements for processed food and feed obtained through certain techniques of genetic modification and processed food and feed that contain or are produced from genetically modified organism (GMO) if the GMO present is higher than 1% of the ingredients considered individually, or if it consists of a single ingredient.

After a technical visit to Armenia done by a Saudi specialty team, they recommended to open the importation of livestock (cattle - sheep and goat) from Armenia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This draft technical regulation applies to determine the permissible concentrations limits of active ingredients used in the formulation of public health pesticides, purity levels, pH levels, and tolerance limits based on pesticide formulation.

Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products from Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of the HPAI virus, as long as it conforms with the approved health requirements, and standards, with a health certificate issued by the official bodies in Brazil prove that the product is free from the virus).

In compliance with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of the HPAI virus into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products from North Denmark in Denmark to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of the HPAI virus, as long as it conforms with the approved health requirements, and standards, with a health certificate issued by the official bodies in Denmark prove that the product is free from the virus).

After a technical visit to Romania done by a Saudi specialty team, they recommended to open the importation of live sheep from Romania to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) issued the Notice of Administration Order of Saudi Food and Drug Authority Ref. No. 30604 dated 3 January 2025 entitled “Temporary ban on importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Calvados in France”. The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has subsequently issued the Notice Administrative Order No. 37495 dated 13 February 2025, lifting the temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Calvados in France, based on the WOAH report dated 17 December 2024, indicating that Calvados in France is free of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI).

Please note that the notification G/SPS/N/ARE/294, G/SPS/N/BHR/250, G/SPS/N/KWT/170, G/SPS/N/OMN/145, G/SPS/N/QAT/149, G/SPS/N/SAU/560, G/SPS/N/YEM/90, titled “Requirements for Manufacturing and Handling Low and Acidified Low Acid Canned Foods, Aseptically Processed and Packaged Low-Acid Foods, and Acidified Food”, dated 10 February 2025. was distributed erroneously and therefore should be considered null and void.

This regulation does not apply to refrigerated and frozen food products, carbonated beverages, water, acidic beverages, acidic foods, jams, jellies, vinegar, fermented dairy products, acidic foods containing small amounts of low-acid foods, or foods for which scientific evidence demonstrates that the product does not support the growth of Clostridium botulinum
