Following the OIE report, ref. No. 51, Vol. 29 dated 16 December 2016, which indicates that a High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in Serbia, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Serbia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, ref. No. 51, Vol. 29 dated 20 December 2016, which indicates that a High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in Germany, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Germany to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, Ref. No. 48, Vol. 29 dated 30 November 2016, which indicates that a HPAI outbreak has reoccurred in Ukraine, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Ukraine to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, Ref. No. 49, Vol. 29 dated 5 December 2016, which indicates that a HPAI outbreak has reoccurred in Poland, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Poland to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, Ref. No. 47, Vol. 29 dated 21 November 2016, which indicates that a HPAI outbreak has reoccurred in Denmark, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Denmark to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, Ref. No. 48, Vol. 29 dated 1 December 2016, which indicates that a HPAI outbreak has reoccurred in Tunisia, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Tunisia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, Ref. No. 49, Vol. 29 dated 7 December 2016, which indicates that a HPAI outbreak has reoccurred in Hungary, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Hungary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No. 21541 dated 14 November 2016, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Germany. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Germany to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No. 21663 dated 24 November 2016, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Skåne län, Sweden. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Skåne län, Sweden to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No.47, Vol. 29 dated 23 November 2016, which indicate that a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in South Korea, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from South Korea to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No.47, Vol. 29 dated 24 November 2016, which indicate that a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in Sweden, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Sweden to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No.47, Vol. 29 dated 21 Novembre 2016, which indicate that a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in Japan, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Japan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE report, Ref. No. 46, Vol. 29 dated 14 November 2016, which indicates that a HPAI outbreak has reoccurred in Germany, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No. 21444 dated 4 November 2016, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Békés, Hungary. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Békés, Hungary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No. 21520 dated 11 November 2016, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Vorarlberg, Austria. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Vorarlberg in Austria to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Depending on positive samples in consignments coming from Somalia indicating presence of Rift Valley Fever and Foot and Mouth Disease viruses, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of these diseases into the country. Therefore, the importation of livestock from Somalia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No.47, Vol. 29 dated 23 November 2016, which indicate that a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in Russia, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Russia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No. 20774 dated 19 August 2016, Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome outbreaks have occurred in Mashonaland and Midlands, Zimbabwe. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Aquatic Animal Health Code Chapter 10.2, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome into the country. Therefore, the import of Tilapia, Catfish and straight fin fish - Barbus paludinosus from Mashonaland and Midlands, Zimbabwe to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended, with the exception of the following: 1- Heat sterilised hermetically sealed fish products (i.e. a heat treatment at 121°C for at least 3.6 minutes or any time/temperature equivalent); 2- Pasteurised fish products that have been subjected to heat treatment at 90°C for at least ten minutes (or any time/temperature equivalent which has been demonstrated to inactivate A. invadans); 3- Mechanically dried eviscerated fish (i.e. a heat treatment at 100°C for at least 30 minutes or any time/temperature equivalent which has been demonstrated to inactivate A. invadans); 4- Frozen eviscerated fish; 5- Frozen fish fillets or steaks; 6- Fish oil; and 7- Fish meal (feeding).

Following the OIE reports, Ref. No.48, Vol. 29 dated 28 November 2016, which indicate that a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak has reoccurred in Netherlands, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease into the country. Therefore, the import of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Netherlands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

In 2011, Saudi Arabia notified WTO (SPS) about this Guide (G/SPS/N/SAU/14). Due to comments from many WTO Members, Saudi Arabia submitted addendum.1 dated on 22 January 2015 (G/SPS/N/SAU/14/Add.1). Subsequently, this Guide had been reviewed by GCC Food Safety Committee and modified accordingly. The attached version has been adopted by all GCC countries.
