The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is extending the comment period for Conditions and requirements that must be met when importing honey and bee products into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This extension is due to a request from a WTO Member. In response, the SFDA has extended the comment period by an additional 30 days. The comment period will now end on 28 July 2021.

This draft document applies to verify the procedures carried out by the competent control authority responsible for food safety in countries interested in exporting food products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and clarifies the procedure for approving foreign establishments and the inspection fee. This step paves the way for assigning the competent authority the responsibility of approving the establishments interested in exporting food products to Saudi market.

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued Decision No. 99333/291/1442 dated 5 October 2020 (18/02/1442 H) entitled "Temporary Ban on the Importation of Livestock originating from Sudan". The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1442/1291/476550 dated 12 June 2021 (30/08/1442 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of livestock originating from Sudan.

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued the Administrative Order of Ref. No. 11981 dated 14 December 2020 (29/04/1442 AH) entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Mazowieckie in Poland". On 16 February 2021, SFDA has issued the Administrative Order Ref. No. 18714, entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Łódzkie and Wielkopolskie in Poland". On 19 April 2021, SFDA has subsequently issued the Administrative Order Ref. No. 25181, entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Malopolskie in Poland". Based on Polish General Veterinary Inspectorate reports, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Malopolskie in Poland. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Mazowieckie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Łódzkie, Wielkopolskie and Malopolskie in Poland into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the OIE reports dated 12 March 2021, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in the State of Kuwait. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products from the State of Kuwait to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following OIE reports dated 3 and 10 February 2021, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) outbreaks have occurred in Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Łódzkie and Wielkopolskie in Poland. In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products (with the exception of processed poultry meat and egg products exposed to either heat or other treatments that ensure deactivation of avian influenza viruses) from Mazowieckie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Łódzkie and Wielkopolskie in Poland into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

In compliance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code Chapter 10.4, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI into the country. Therefore, the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products from Saint-Geours-de-Maremne in France to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

This draft technical regulation applies to dairy analogues, undergoing pasteurization, and ultra-high-temperature (UTH) treatment with ingredients where milk oil is partially or entirely replaced with vegetable oil.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has issued the Decision No. 1442/1291/260933 dated 20 December 2020 (05/05/1442 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live equine originating from Kuwait, after the end of Glanders outbreak and following the Commission implementing regulation (2020/1777).

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has issued the Decision No. 1442/1291/260933 dated 20 December 2020 (05/05/1442 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of equine originating from Turkey, after the end of Glanders outbreak and following the Commission implementing regulation (2020/1777).

Food supplements may contain such a vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics, collagen, dietary fibers, melatonin, propolis, pollen, herbs or food herbal extracts etc.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) issued the Administrative Order of Saudi Food and Drug Authority Ref. No. 19356 dated 12 February 2020 (18/06/1441 AH) entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Ács, Komarom‑Esztergom and Létavértes, Hajdu-Bihar in Hungary". The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has subsequently issued the administrative order No. 5148 dated 11 October 2020 (24/02/1442 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs and their products originating from Ács, Komarom‑Esztergom and Létavértes, Hajdu-Bihar in Hungary. Based on OIE reports No. 33478 and 33479 dated 2 March 2020, Hungary is free from HPAI. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing poultry meat, eggs and their products from Hungary is negligible.
